Hi,

MY NAME is Natasha Rego. I was a full-time journalist for over a decade. Now I'm also a naturalist, science communicator, content creator, quizmaker, and designer. And, I obsessively tell plant stories.

I know what you're thinking. That's too many things for one person to be. Yet, somehow, I manage ;)

I use my many skills to get people excited about the natural world. In the future, I want my own native plant nursery and a degraded patch of land to restore.

Occassionally, I work on topics not of the natural world as well. Hey, a girl's gotta pay her bills and buy that land!

Come along, as I take you through some of the work I do for pleasure and payment. Often both.

Writing

EXPLAINERS ARE the best way to show off my ability to write succinct, effective text. Combine that with visuals and we have a deadly combination—one that retains attention and persuades the reader to forget scrolling and continue reading.

I also write environmental and science-y things for news publications, craft quizzes and edit copy wherever it's in need of editing.

Design

I MAKE MAPS, manuals and magazines, posters and presentations.

I create style guides, colour schemes
and compose the design language for media projects.

My design work has also extended to layout for graphic novels. Two and counting.

Video

I STARTED making videos to share my (then) new found love for plants with my friends.

Turns out, there's a dedicated audience for plant stories. Especially urban plants. So I made more. Then I got commissioned by organisations who wanted me to tell their stories. Suddenly I became a professional video maker.

Throw in a map here, some animation there and the audience is hooked.
